the joys of using someone else's camera

katie has been nice enough to let me use her manual camera, so that i can take pictures during my family project that i know for certain will come out.
when she gave me the camera there was an old roll of film left in it that i finished off.
when it was developed, i found this. pictures from bowling in 2005.
hilarious and a fun surprise.

my grandfather

grandpa busche fixing the lawnmower someone else fixed wrong.
someday i hope to have my grandfather's hands: capable, strong, full of the knowledge of how to do things. they look like they have worked hard, there was always dirt or grease embedded in them, i love my grandpa and his hands.

polaroid success

i'll have to figure out what's making the light leak, but otherwise pretty happy with the results.

polaroid tests

about 6 yrs ago i bought a polaroid land camera.
it was $4 dollars at the thrift store, and i thought, purely nice to look at, most likely not working, and impossible to find film for.
fast forward to my birthday this year, at Weegee's, when a guy took my photo with one of these cameras. this started me looking for the film. leftover stock from polaroid, and alternative films.
at the impossible project i bought old stock, in color and chocolate.
and i found that fuji still makes type 100 film, color and B&W.
so I started testing my camera.
once i figured out that the battery was dead, i stopped getting black pictures.
then i started playing with light levels.
conclusion: photos inside, don't work so well.

at the end of the pier

so windy and cold still, but a beautiful view of the lake and the city
